While some games have made serious efforts to limit how much storage space they take up, it’s undeniable that games are only getting bigger. For thePS5and Xbox Series X generation, this has become an even bigger problem with the limited side of their internal SSDs.February 2022 gamesare going to really put that to the test.
The PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition each have 825GB of storage space, yet only 667.2GB of that is actually usable. External SSD and HDDs are capable of expanding that, of course, but SSDs run PS5 games much better. External SSDs are not cheap either, with 500GBs costing around $160 dollars, 1TB costing around $250 dollars, 2TB costing anywhere from $360 to $550, and a 4TB PS5 SSD Hitting a whopping $999.

Eventually, thesePS5 SSDswill likely be cheaper, but that won’t be before February 2022. And, looking at all the games hitting early next year, that initial 667.2GBs worth of space is basically already gone (not counting current games).

February PS5 Games
For quick reference, here is every PS5 game releasing in February 2022, as well as their storage size if known. Some may not be exact but can give readers a ballpark figure for the games they plan to pick up in February.
February 2022 Games’ Impact on the PS5 Storage Space
Considering no approximate or exact file size for two games, the lowest possible file size forHorizon Forbidden West, and no day one patches, this total still comes out to be very crudely 515.571GBs. It wouldn’t take much to push that number over theavailable space on the PS5. Of course, not everyone is bound to play and download every single one of those games, but just looking at the biggest doesn’t help much.
Arguably, the biggest games coming out inFebruary 2022 areDying Light 2, Sifu, Horizon Forbidden West, Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, andElden Ring.Sifuis unknown, andThe Witch Queen’s size may very well include the base game. Still, however, that comes up to be an approximate 240.571GBs, meaning the most anticipated games of February 2022 take up at least 36% of the PS5’s storage space.
Of course, games can still be deleted and moved and all of that. There’s still no denying that on a basePS5with no externals, February 2022 will murder its storage space more so than 2021 already has.
