Summary
Following a recent cyberattack, details ofInsomniac’s upcomingWolverinegame have leaked online. The massive leak comes only a week after the Rhysida ransomware group hackedInsomniac Gamesand threatened to release a plethora of sensitive information. While the group initially released a select few documents, now it appears that the complete dataset has made it to the public space.
In early December,Insomniac Games was hit with a ransomware attackfrom the Rhysida group. The attackers claimed to have access to numerous confidential documents, going on to post employee information, upcoming project content, and other details as proof. While Insomniac Games has yet to comment on the incident, Sony officially confirmed that the company is looking into the attack. Unfortunately, the latest round of leaks suggest that the situation is becoming far more challenging for the PlayStation maker and the studio.

~Potential spoilers ahead~At the time of writing, much of the leaked data is centered around the upcomingWolverinegame. Among the leaks include the cast forMarvel’s Wolverine, indicating that classicWolverine-associated characters like Sabretooth and Deathstrikemay be featured, along with other characters such as Jean Grey, Mystique, and Omega Red. Among the many actors leaked are Troy Baker andStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s Debra Wilson, along with Liam McIntyre for the voice of Wolverine. Additionally, test footage, concept art, as well as an alleged alpha build of the game have been publicly released. While neither Sony nor Insomniac have commented on the seemingly escalated situation yet, the new leaks may be a sign that the Rhysida group is pressuring the company to meet its financial demands.
Wolverine Cast
Of course, the Wolverine game isn’t the only project that was impacted by the attack. The Rhysida group’s initially released documents hinted thatInsomniac Games could be working on aSpider-Versegamealong withSpider-Man3. Some speculate that theSpider-Versetitle is the rumored multiplayer project, although Insomniac has offered no official details. Interestingly, the leaked data further suggest that the studio may be working on separateVenomandX-Mengames as well.
It’s worth noting that recent years have seen cybercriminals targeting high-profile gaming companies at an increased pace. Last year,GTA6 details were leaked online, causing massive problems for Rockstar leading up to the official trailer reveal, which was also leaked early. Unfortunately, it appears Insomniac Games is facing a similarly problematic situation. It remains to be seen how the situation will pan out for Insomniac, particularly considering how the dataset includes some employees' personal information in addition to gaming content. It also doesn’t help that the studio’s future plans may have been spoiled and that circumventing these leaks will be a tricky scenario for Insomniac Games.
